About Solihull

I aim to help and support my constituents and the communities in which they live in any way I can. In particular I hope to preserve local jobs and amenities, support the sustainable growth of the local economy, help to improve our quality of life, and promote the Solihull constituency in the wider community.

Constituency Information

Can I Help?

If you are a constituent of mine, there are many ways in which I may be able to help you or offer advice. Below is a list of a few things which I can and cannot do.

what I can do...

  • Take up your difficulties and concerns locally, on issues including benefits, housing, pensions, immigration and more.

  • Raise your issues directly with local bodies and organisations such as the Council, Health Authority or Benefits Agency.

  • Listen to your views on other local or national issues, which can help to shape future Government and Liberal Democrat policy.

what I can't do...

  • I can raise your planning issues with the Council, and tackle bureaucratic hold ups, but cannot take a personal view for or against any individual application. I must act impartially for all my constituents. It is the job of councillors to decide on the outcome of the application in each local area committee (though they can be overruled if the developer appeals to a Government Inspector).

  • I am unable to offer you legal advice of any sort but I can refer your problem to a relevant body and advise you on how to proceed.

If you are in any doubt then please contact me by one of the means described on this website. Even if I cannot personally help you, I am often able to direct you to someone who can!
